Customer Q&A: your questions, answered by Velotic leadership

Velotic Customer Q&A is a video series where Velotic leaders answer the questions customers ask most about the company and the Proficy, Kepware, and ThingWorx products they run.

The questions come from customers through our Voice of the Customer survey, and each episode takes on the ones that come up most often. Chief Customer Officer Matt Wells hosts each episode with the Velotic leader responsible for the topic.

Velotic Q&A Series

Episode 1: Welcome to Velotic. Ownership, legal entity, people and headquarters

Matt Wells, Velotic's Chief Customer Officer, is joined by Kimberly Sims from TPG's operations team to answer the four questions customers asked most after Velotic launched:

  • What role will TPG play, and is a sale on the horizon?
  • What is Innovate Pro, and will the name change again?
  • Did the people we work with join Velotic?
  • Where is headquarters, and what happens to regional offices?

Kimberly explains TPG's plans for Velotic, and Matt covers what customers need to do about supplier records and contracts, which teams moved over from Proficy, Kepware, and ThingWorx, and where to find Velotic in person.

Episode 2: Product roadmap. What's being invested in and what's being combined

The top theme in the Voice of the Customer survey was whether the products you run today will keep being developed. Matt Wells sits down with Chris Baldwin, who leads product and engineering at Velotic, to answer five questions:

  • Will the products I own keep getting investment?
  • Will products with overlapping capabilities be consolidated?
  • Where is development effort going?
  • What will release schedules look like?
  • What milestones should customers watch for?

Chris names which two products overlap and what happens to them, and gives the release dates for ThingWorx, Kepware, Proficy, and next-generation SCADA through mid-2027.

Episode 3: Investment strategy and industrial AI

Velotic CEO Brian Shepherd joins Chief Customer Officer Matt Wells to explain the reasoning behind the roadmap, where AI fits in industrial software, and the real cost of building your own systems. He answers four questions: *

  • What are the near-term and long-term investment priorities?
  • Why choose Velotic over the other options?
  • What will AI actually do in Velotic products?
  • Should we build our own instead?

Brian lays out where AI will and won't be applied, who stays in control of operational decisions, and the costs that show up after an in-house prototype is finished.
